Disrupting Mediocrity: Why I’m Proud to Support Shoot for Life’s Bow’s for Vets Program
For me, real estate has never been about simply selling houses.
It’s about the people, families and communities behind every transaction and finding ways to make an impact well beyond the closing table.
That’s why I’m proud to serve as a presenting sponsor of Shoot for Life’s Bow’s for Vets program.
This one is especially personal.
I founded Shoot for Life in 2015 with the belief that we could use the outdoors, community and the sport of archery to make a real difference in people’s lives. More than a decade later, that mission continues to grow.
Throughout that journey, one phrase has remained part of my DNA:
Disrupt mediocrity.
To me, disrupting mediocrity means refusing to accept that the way something has always been done is the way it has to continue being done.
It means doing more than talking about a problem.
It means taking action.
More Than Giving Away a Bow
Bow’s for Vets was built around a simple idea: get veterans and first responders back outdoors, put a bow in their hands and introduce or reintroduce them to a community that welcomes them.
But the bow itself is only part of the story.
Archery demands focus. When you’re at full draw, your attention narrows. You settle into your anchor points, control your breathing, find your mark and execute the shot.
For those few moments, everything else gets quieter.
That focus, combined with time outdoors and the camaraderie surrounding the sport, is exactly why Shoot for Life has continued to use archery as a platform for supporting veterans, first responders and individuals facing PTSD.
Through Bow’s for Vets, selected veterans receive equipment and an opportunity to become part of something that extends beyond a single event.
The goal isn’t simply to hand someone a bow.
It’s to open a door.
A door back into the outdoors.
A door to a new community.
A vessel to friendships, community, purpose and something they can continue doing long after the event is over.
Putting My Business Behind the Mission
As my real estate business has grown, I’ve become increasingly intentional about making sure that growth creates an impact in the communities I serve throughout Michigan.
Becoming a presenting sponsor of Bow’s for Vets is part of that commitment.
I don’t believe community involvement should simply be a logo on a banner or a sponsorship check written once a year.
If I’m going to put my name behind something, I want to be involved.
That’s been my approach with Shoot for Life from the beginning, and it’s the same philosophy I bring into real estate.
Show up. Do the work. Find a better way. Take care of people.
Whether I’m helping a family buy their first home, marketing a unique Michigan property, helping a landowner understand the value of their acreage or putting a new bow into the hands of a veteran, I don’t have much interest in doing things simply because that’s how they’ve always been done.
I want to disrupt mediocrity.
Business Can Be Bigger Than Business
There are thousands of real estate transactions happening across Michigan every year. Every one of those transactions represents an opportunity to do something beyond buying and selling property.
That’s the kind of business I want to build.
One where success isn’t measured only by transactions or sales volume, but also by what we’re able to put back into the communities that made that success possible.
Supporting Bow’s for Vets is one piece of that.
Shoot for Life has spent more than a decade bringing people together through archery, outdoor experiences and programs designed to create tangible impact. I’m incredibly proud of where it started, where it is today and where we’re taking it next.
And I’m equally proud that the clients who choose to work with me in real estate are indirectly helping make that next chapter possible.
Because when local businesses, clients, volunteers and organizations come together around a shared purpose, we can accomplish a lot more than any of us can accomplish alone.
That’s how you build stronger communities.
That’s how you create impact.
And that’s how we continue to disrupt mediocrity.
About Bow’s for Vets
Bow’s for Vets is a Shoot for Life program dedicated to supporting veterans through archery, outdoor recreation and community. The program provides selected veterans with archery equipment and opportunities to participate in Shoot for Life events and become involved in the archery community.
Veterans can be nominated to participate in the program through Shoot for Life.
